Degradation of the anti-slip coating
Most washing machine mats have a non-slip rubber or latex backing. When exposed to hot water and the drum's movements, this layer can crack, disintegrate, and lose its grip. Even worse, rubber residue can clog the machine's filters and impair its performance.
Risks to your washing machine
A waterlogged drum mat becomes very heavy. This can unbalance the drum, causing vibrations and unusual noise. Over time, the bearings and other mechanical parts may be damaged. Rubber fibers and particles also clog the filters, reducing the appliance's performance.
Development of molds and bacteria
Bath mats are constantly exposed to moisture. Washing at a low temperature is not always enough to eliminate all bacteria. As a result, unpleasant odors appear, and the risk of mold increases.
