Tyler broke down in tears inside the patrol car. He explained that his mother had convinced him I was confused and had taken money that rightfully belonged to the family. She even promised him a brand-new truck if he recovered my new bank card and returned with my financial folder.

He had no idea about the forged loan or the criminal charges.

Detective Bennett chose not to arrest him that night. Instead, she contacted his biological father, the man who had raised Tyler during the six years Ryan had been absent from his life. Tyler agreed to cooperate fully, handing over every text message Melissa had sent him.

Those messages shattered what remained of Ryan and Melissa’s defense.

Melissa instructed Tyler to enter through the kitchen, search my bedroom, and remove my new  debit card, bank statements, and every letter from Samuel. She also told him that if the police appeared, he should claim I had asked him to check on the house because I was becoming forgetful.
