The document they desperately wanted to stop was my victim affidavit for the bank and the prosecutor. Without it, they hoped to argue that I had authorized the withdrawals and later forgotten about them.

Instead, Tyler’s messages proved they were still attempting to interfere with evidence even after their arrests.

The judge revoked both of their bonds.

The case stretched on for nearly a year.

During that time, I replaced every bank account, froze my credit reports, established a living trust with an independent trustee, and converted my paper property deed into a protected electronic record.

I also removed Ryan as the beneficiary of both my pension and my life insurance.

That decision hurt more than opening a new  bank account or calling the police.

He was still my son.

But being my son never gave him ownership of the future I had worked for.

At trial, Ryan’s lawyer argued that overwhelming gambling addiction had clouded his judgment and that he always intended to repay every dollar. Melissa’s attorney insisted she had simply trusted her husband and never truly understood the paperwork.
